Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach
Our Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach program provides free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and veterinary care in our mobile clinic. We also host walk-in Pet Wellness Clinics with vaccines, flea treatment, microchips and other basic services at low-cost. Pet Wellness Clinic services
Our walk-in vaccine clinics run from 10am to 1pm and we provide:
- Rabies (by Merial), $10
- Distemper parvo vaccine (DHPP) for dogs, $10
- Feline distemper vaccine (FVRCP), $10
- Bordetella (aka “kennel cough” for dogs), $15
- Topical flea treatment, $10
- Dewormer, $10
- Microchips, $10 – FREE in Lompoc and at some special events.
- Nail trims, $20
- Dog licensing with Santa Barbara County Animal Services on select dates, $25 for altered dogs
Spays & Neuters
Our mobile spay/neuter surgeries are free or low-cost for Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County residents and is based on your income level. If you cannot afford to alter your dogs and cats at a veterinary clinic or a low-cost clinic such as the humane society, please submit an inquiry form.
Please note: Spays and neuters need to be scheduled prior to a clinic day. All dogs and female cats must wear an e-collar (“cone”) for 7-10 days post surgery to prevent infection. We charge $10 per cone. We also charge a fee for three days of pain medication to go home. This fee starts at $10 and goes up depending on a dog’s weight.

Community Medicine
We provide low-cost mobile veterinary care for low-income, senior, disabled and homeless pet owners in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County to prevent suffering and keep pets with their families. See the below list for services we offer in our mobile clinic and please note that our mobile clinic is not a full-service or emergency veterinary hospital. Clients have to show proof of financial need.
Is your household not low income?
As our clinic schedule allows, we can assist pet families that do not require financial assistance at a higher cost per service under special circumstances. For example, if your regular veterinarian cannot see your pet(s), or you have difficulty scheduling a timely appointment at any local, full-service veterinary clinic.
We can, as funding allows, provide assistance for Santa Barbara County pet families (only) through our veterinary clinic partners. If you live in San Luis Obispo County and need help with medical services beyond what we offer in our mobile clinic, we can refer you to a partner agency.
Who qualifies?
C.A.R.E.4Paws accepts clients that reside in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County and can show proof of financial need. This includes providing a copy of one of the following:

** Our medical exams are reserved for pets that have medical issues. We do not perform regular wellness or annual exams.
** Extra fees may be applied depending on factors such as the size of the dog, teeth extractions, if antibiotics are needed post-surgery, etc.
*Please note: Our mobile clinic is not a full-service or emergency veterinary clinic. If you are approved for assistance and your pet is not in need of urgent care, we will set you up for an appointment in our mobile clinic when we have an opening. If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, we will contact you as soon as we possibly can.

Clinic services for animal rescue groups and volunteers
C.A.R.E.4Paws offers lower cost mobile spays/neuters and medical services to our own volunteers as well as volunteers and staff working for animal shelters in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County. We truly appreciate all that you do to help animals in need and improve the future for our four-legged friends. This is a way for us to give back!
As resources allow, we also support our animal rescue partners with lower cost fees.
These services only apply to our mobile veterinary clinics.

We perform more than 2,000 spay/neuter surgeries annually and assist as many dogs and cats with critical medical care. We also help thousands of pets every year with vaccines, flea treatment, microchips and other essential services during our walk-in Pet Wellness Clinics.
