Mike and Pam Dennis moved from Anchorage, Alaska, in 1988 to open Klondike Pizza in Arroyo Grande. Back then it was called Klondike Cafe, but too many people expected them to serve meatloaf and mashed potatoes (their idea of “cafe food”). So when the Dennis family opened a second location in Santa Maria in 1996, the name was officially changed to Klondike Pizza. Not only does Klondike serve incredibly yummy pizza, but its compassionate owners, manager and whole team love to support local causes, including Animals In Need Fund (AINF), which operates as a program under C.A.R.E.4Paws as of 2024. Mike and Pam learned about AINF when they adopted a 12-year-old dog, Lucy.
A rescue volunteer found Lucy tied to a trailer and starving. She was fostered and rehabilitated and then the Dennises adopted her. Lucy lived to be 17 and is the inspiration behind an annual March fundraiser for AINF. This year, the campaign brought in more than $7,000!
