Jayme’s story: “Yesterday, I was completely at a loss. My cat, Simon, had been to the emergency clinic for a urinary blockage on Saturday and desperately needed a follow-up visit. But between living in my car, being on the road and running low on funds, I had no idea where to take him or how I was going to afford it,” says Jayme. “I was driving when Simon had a bit of diarrhea in his litter box, so I pulled over to scoop it out—stopping right in front of Monarch Veterinary Clinic. I knew right then it was a sign. I took a leap of faith and booked an appointment, using just barely enough money to cover the exam fee. While waiting in the office, I noticed a C.A.R.E.4Paws poster on the wall and applied for assistance. You guys were SO amazing! It truly was an act of divine timing, and Simon and I are beyond grateful. He was able to get a full checkup, fluids and new medication. Simon is still healing, but he’s doing much better now. Pawsitive outcomes abound when it comes to our community outreach. In April, when we learned that multiple litters of kittens and moms had been abandoned in the Santa Maria riverbed, dedicated volunteers rushed to bring them to safety. Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society kindly took in several cats and kittens, as did C.A.R.E.4Paws’ Animals In Need Fund (AINF) program. While the kitties AINF took in had several health challenges, they survived thanks to loving foster care and medical support from Beach Cities Veterinary Hospital and Monarch Dunes Veterinary Group.

Today, we’re thrilled to share that Poppy and her babies are healthy, thriving and ready to find their forever homes.

When Debbie saw that Tank, a 5-month-old puppy, faced euthanasia at a Bakersfield shelter, she knew she had to give him a chance. Tank’s left eye was severely damaged, causing pain and requiring surgery, but the $1,800 fee was out of reach for Debbie, who lives on a fixed income. 

Through our Veterinary Partner Services program and the Albus Pet Lifeline Fund, we provided financial assistance that made the surgery possible. Once Tank’s painful eye was removed, he began to thrive. Now eight months old, he is a happy, healthy, energetic pup. Thanks to compassionate care and community support, this once-overlooked pup has a bright future ahead!

Brandi recently reached out to share a wonderful note about her 6-year-old cat, Roo Roo, whom she has raised since she was just a few days old. Thanks to our mobile veterinary clinic, Roo Roo was able to get the routine pet wellness care she needed to stay happy, healthy and thriving.

We had a very special visitor at the mobile clinic! Bingo and his mom stopped by to see us for a much-needed nail trim. It is an excellent reminder that keeping nails short isn’t just for aesthetics, but to prevent our pets from suffering in pain.

Access to care can mean the difference between hope and heartbreak. When Elena’s beloved dog, Friend, experienced a sudden medical emergency, she rushed her to Advanced Veterinary Specialists (AVS), but Elena faced a vet bill she couldn’t afford on her own. Our team worked with the compassionate staff at AVS to reduce the cost of care and we also provided financial assistance so Friend could receive lifesaving treatment without delay.

“Without their help, she would not be here today. We will forever be grateful to C.A.R.E.4Paws,” says Elena, who shares that Friend is recovering well.
